Two wells were drilled at the Listvyazhnaya mine to prevent new explosions the place of the accident. TASS reports this with reference to a source in the emergency services.

These works are carried out to reduce the concentration of methane in the mine and prevent new explosions.

“Currently, drilling of two wells with surfaces to the emergency site. The third well has been drilled by almost two-thirds, ”the agency's interlocutor said.

34,000 cubic meters of nitrogen and 1.8 thousand kilograms of freon were pumped into the mine to cool it. The accumulated water is pumped out of the mine drainage system, it is planned to create water locks. For this, four more wells will be drilled into the mine.

A methane explosion in a mine in the Kemerovo Region took place on the morning of November 25. As a result, 51 people died, including five mine rescuers who went in search of miners. According to the latest data, 96 people were injured – some of them had already been discharged from the hospital.

A criminal case was initiated, five suspects, including the director of the mine, were arrested. The families of those killed at Listvyazhnaya will receive one million rubles each from the Social Insurance Fund.
