Defense Express: Ukrainian satellite “Sich-2-30” prepared for dispatch to the USA
Ukrainian satellite for Earth remote sensing 2-30 “has passed the tests. Specialists from the Yuzhnoye design bureau have prepared the device for shipment to Cape Canaveral in the United States, where the launch of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle will take place. The Defense Express information and consulting agency reports.
Head of the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) Vladimir Taftay said that in the coming days the satellite will be sent to the United States. He clarified that the preparation for sending the satellite passed without deviations from the schedule, and the parameters of the device meet the requirements.
According to the head of the SSAU, in the United States, the device will be prepared for launch and docked with a carrier rocket. He noted that the launch of the rocket with the Sich-2-30 satellite will take place in January 2022.
Earlier it became known about the postponement of the launch of the rocket, which will put the Sich-2-30 into orbit. The Falcon 9 Block 5 launch vehicle will be launched on January 10, 2022. Initially, the launch was planned for December. The Ukrainian satellite will be launched into orbit under an agreement between the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau and ISILAUNCH.
In September, the Defense Express agency announced successful tests of the dimensional and dynamic model of the spacecraft. Satellite “Sich-2-30” is designed to obtain images of the Earth's surface in the infrared and optical ranges. The spacecraft is based on the design of the EgyptSat-1 satellite.
