RIA Novosti: the European Union agreed on the fifth package of anti-Belarusian sanctions
Permanent representatives of the European Union (EU ) agreed on a fifth package of sanctions against the regime of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source.
“Yes, I can confirm that now this item of the meeting of the permanent representatives has been approved,” the agency's interlocutor said.
Restrictive measures will take effect from the moment of signing and publication of the corresponding document. The sanctions will be published in the official EU journal on Thursday 2 December. The new list includes 17 officials and 11 organizations from Belarus.
Earlier it became known that new restrictions will now be imposed on individuals, legal entities and government agencies that organize or contribute to the migration crisis at the EU borders. It is already known that the sanctions were imposed on the chairman of the State Border Committee (CPC) of Belarus Anatoly Lapo, head of the Grodno border detachment Konstantin Molostov, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic Anatoly Glaz and head of the ONT TV channel Marat Markov. Among the companies on the list were Belavia Airlines, the Center Resort travel agency, as well as the Grodno Azot and Belarusneft enterprises.
