The family of Gradsky's father Boris Fradkin was evacuated to the Chelyabinsk region from Kharkov during the Great Patriotic War. The singer was born in Kopeisk in 1949 and lived there until he was eight years old, after which he and his parents moved to Moscow.

Alexander Gradsky died on the morning of November 28 from a heart attack in the intensive care unit of the capital's hospital. Prior to that, he suffered a stroke and suffered from pain in his legs. Farewell to the artist took place in the capital's theater “Gradsky Hall”, in which he served as artistic director. The musician was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery.

Gradsky left two apartments in Moscow and a country house in a prestigious area as an inheritance. According to the lawyer, the children of the artist can claim the property first of all.
