Reasons for the FSB searches in the Orenburg morgue revealed

The FSB detained the chief forensic scientist of the Orenburg region for business on the bodies of the dead This was announced on Wednesday, December 1, to Lente.ru by the official representative of the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) Radik Galimov.

The TFR opened a criminal case against the detainee under Article 285 (“Abuse of official powers” ) Of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation based on the materials of the FSB. As part of the investigation of the case, searches were carried out in the expert institution and its structural divisions, including the morgue, as well as at the place of residence of the suspect.

According to a source of Lenta.ru in law enforcement agencies, we are talking about Andrei Gromov. He and his accomplices created a whole business on the bodies of the dead – they forced the relatives of the deceased to conclude contracts for cosmetics for corpses and other services.

Earlier on December 1, it was reported that FSB operatives, with the support of special forces, came to medical morgue. Operational activities were carried out in the funeral hall and in the paperwork department. At this time, the special forces ensured the safety of the employees, controlling the perimeter.

Andrey Gromov headed the GBUZ “Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination” of the region from 2006 to 2010. Later, there were complaints that he was forcing experts to force relatives to sign contracts. After checking by the prosecutor's office, he was removed from office. The official who replaced him in 2020 retired, and Andrei Gromov again headed the bureau.
