In Moscow, a 70-year-old Russian woman will be convicted of the murder of a 90-year-old associate professor at VGIK

Investigation into the murder of 90-year-old associate professor of VGIK Ida Shur in Moscow

According to the investigation, the accused worked for the murdered social worker. In the summer of 2020, Voitsekhovskaya was looking for an apartment for permanent residence. She knew that the VGIK teacher lived alone in an apartment on Kutuzovsky Prospekt in Moscow. On July 18, 2020, she came to the house of the 90-year-old assistant professor and offered her help with housework in exchange for living together. In case of refusal, the attacker planned to kill the woman because of personal hostility.

Irina Shur did not agree to the proposal of the accused, after which Voitsekhovskaya hit the landlady on the head several times, and then inflicted stab and cut wounds on her in the chest and torso. The woman died on the spot from her injuries.

In the course of the investigation, 50 witnesses were interviewed, the recordings from CCTV cameras were viewed, and forensic examinations were carried out. All this helped to expose the VGIK teacher accused of murdering. Voitsekhovskaya is charged under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder”). The woman does not admit her guilt. The criminal case has been sent to the court.

Ida Borisovna Shur taught at VGIK since 1958. She was Assistant Professor in the Department of Aesthetics, History and Theory of Culture, and has also written several curricula in the theory and history of musical art.
