Tokyo made a submission to Washington over an F-16 fighter jettisoning fuel from the American F-16 fighter near the residential areas of the country. This was stated by the secretary general of the Japanese government, Hirokazu Matsuno, RIA Novosti reports.
“Yesterday, an American F-16 fighter assigned to the Misawa base, as a result of some failures, made an emergency landing at the Aomori airport,” the politician said. According to him, the plane dropped two fuel tanks to complete the landing. The secretary general urged Washington to investigate the causes of the incident in order to prevent its recurrence.
Matsuno noted that one of the tanks was found in the area of the Fukaura village, and the second was still not found. He stressed that there was no information about the victims. “Such incidents cause concern among the local population and should not take place,” said the secretary general of the Cabinet.
Earlier, census data showed that the population of Japan fell by almost a million people from 2015 to 2020. As of October 2020, Japan's population stood at 126.14 million. This is 949 thousand less than in 2015. The average family size has also declined in the country – currently it is 2.27 people.
