Egyptian designers presented the Sinai 200 based on the BMP-1 design

Egyptian designers presented the Sinai 200 armored vehicle at Egypt Defense Expo 2021 in Cairo. The new vehicle is based on the Soviet BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The chassis of the Egyptian vehicle received elements of the BMP-1. The Sinai-200 is shorter, so the undercarriage has five road wheels on each side. The Egyptian car is driven by a 400 horsepower engine. This allows you to reach speeds of up to 65 kilometers per hour.

The Sinai-200 crew consists of two people. In the stern of the BMP there is a troop compartment, which was equipped with observation devices and loopholes for firing small arms. For landing and landing, the vehicle received hatches in the roof and rear.

The main armament of the vehicle was a remotely controlled weapon station with a 12.7 mm machine gun. The publication notes that the developers paid attention to the protection of the vehicle from anti-tank mines and improvised explosive devices.

Earlier, military expert Alexei Khlopotov called the features of the new Russian BMP B-19. He noted that the vehicle's ammunition load was removed from the fighting compartment. The BMP received a combat module “Epoch” with a 57-millimeter assault rifle and missiles.

In September, at the MSPO-2021 exhibition in Poland, a modernized copy of the BMP-1 was presented. The combat vehicle differs from the standard version in its increased hull and increased security.
