The former head of IK-15 in Angarsk was arrested on charges of accepting a large bribe
The former head of the correctional colony (IK-15) in Angarsk arrested on charges of accepting a large bribe of one million rubles. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Irkutsk Region.
According to the investigation, one of the subordinates gave a bribe to the defendant so that he would not be fired for gross violation of labor discipline. The criminal case was initiated on the basis of the materials of the Directorate of Internal Security of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the region.
The ex-head of the colony was detained in Irkutsk, the court granted the petition for his detention for two months until January 24, 2022.
This is the second case against the former head of IK-15. In March, the court sent him under house arrest on suspicion of fraud with a forest in an industrial zone that burned down during a prisoner riot on April 9, 2020. The defendant allegedly could have set up the riots in order to hide the violations committed by him.
On April 9, 2020, the prisoners staged a riot in IK-15 in protest against the actions of the administration. 20 prisoners cut their hands, the next day 300 convicts refused to go to exercise. They gathered on the parade ground and pelted the guards with stones. During the riot, a fire broke out, a sewing workshop, a warehouse, a pig farm and several dozen modular buildings were destroyed. The riots were suppressed by the special forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service on the night of April 11.
