The specialist noted that in 2020, the coronavirus infection “won” this battle. Therefore, the Russians had little flu. “The coronavirus regrouped, re-sharpened. He is surrounded by a flock of comrades who are not at all interested in his leadership in this field,” the doctor explained.
Now there is a high probability of contracting both COVID-19 and the flu, Nikiforov admitted.
According to the infectious disease specialist, sometimes influenza vaccines do not work. The reason for this is not the poor quality of the drugs, but the constant mutation of the virus.
Nikiforov recommended that Russians be vaccinated with tetravalent vaccines. Vaccinations against coronavirus and influenza are 100% compatible, they can be given even on the same day, the doctor emphasized.
Earlier, Alexander Chepurnov, professor of virology, head of the laboratory for especially dangerous infections at the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine, said, that after the initial administration of the single-component Sputnik Light vaccine, a person will not have such high immunity as after the administration of the two-component Sputnik V vaccine.
