Senator Jabarov called the FAZ publication on Nord Stream 2 an attempt to put pressure on Germany
The designation of Nord Stream 2 is strategic Germany's mistake in the publication of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) is partisan stupidity. Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, said this in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
Earlier, the German observer Nikolas Busse wrote in a column for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that the gas pipeline “ Nord Stream 2 “became a strategic mistake of Germany, while Russia laid a mine under the stability and security of Europe.
Attempt to pressure
Dzhabarov stressed that Nord Stream-2 is a purely commercial project, which has been repeatedly stated by both the Russian side and its German partners. “I can say that this is yet another partisan stupidity, clearly paid for by some political forces that are against the development of relations between Germany and Russia,” he added, speaking about Busse’s publication.
The Senator noted that “ Nord Stream 2 ”is primarily beneficial to Europe. “We can sell anywhere, there are a lot of consumers. But we do not want to lose ties with Germany, it is a reliable purchaser of our hydrocarbon raw materials, ”the politician summed up.
“I think this is an attempt to put pressure on the German government so that they succumb to the influence of the States and do not give permission for the commissioning of Nord Stream 2. But I think that now all this foam will come down and it will become obvious that this project is economically beneficial to all parties, “Jabarov concluded.
In early December, the Democrats of the US Senate agreed to consider a package of amendments to the country's draft defense budget for this fiscal year, which involves the introduction of sanctions for participation in the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
On November 16, Germany suspended the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. German government sources noted that the pipeline's launch could be delayed until March 2022 due to certification issues. The construction of the gas pipeline was completed on September 10. According to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, on September 6, the operator of the Nord Stream 2 construction, Nord Stream 2 AG, informed about the welding of the last pipe in the Baltic Sea.
