Global Times: China tested a turboprop engine of its own production for UAVs The turboprop power unit is designed for UAVs. The Chinese engine will increase the efficiency of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in high altitude conditions, according to the Global Times.
The engine was developed in the research division of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp (CASC). The power unit was tested in Tibet, where the drone flew at a maximum altitude of 5191 meters above sea level. Also, the developers conducted a night flight at an altitude of 4300 meters.
The developers claim that the engine weighing 18 kilograms can provide flight of unmanned aerial vehicles weighing up to 600 kilograms. The publication notes that the piston engines of unmanned aerial vehicles provide flight at an altitude of up to 3000 meters, and the development of CASC will allow flying at an altitude of 4000 to 5200 meters above sea level.
Rostec reported that in 2022 the Russian military will receive VM-V target helicopters. The drones will allow simulating enemy aircraft during testing of new weapons.
In November, the Norwegian company Nammo presented a drone with a grenade launcher. The aircraft received a disposable M72 LAW grenade launcher, which was installed vertically. This allows you to attack armored vehicles in the least protected areas.
