The European Union (EU) adopted the fifth package of sanctions against Belarus due to the situation with migrants on the Polish-Belarusian border. This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of the EU Council.

It says that the EU Council approved another package of individual prohibitive measures against individuals and legal entities “in connection with the hybrid actions of Belarus to instrumentalize migrants to put pressure on states of the European Union “. The sanctions will take effect from the moment of publication in the official EU journal later on Thursday, December 2.

More than 20 individuals and legal entities have been included in the sanctions list. It is already known that the restrictions were placed on the chairman of the State Border Committee (CPC) of Belarus Anatoly Lapo, head of the Grodno border detachment Konstantin Molostov, official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic Anatoly Glaz and head of the ONT TV channel Marat Markov. Among the companies on the list were Belavia Airlines, the Center Resort travel agency, as well as the Grodno Azot and Belarusneft enterprises.
