Russia responded to accusations of delayed launch of Nord Stream 2

State Duma deputy Delyagin: Germany needs Nord Stream 2, Russia does not care about it

Nord Stream 2 is only needed Germany and the German industry, Russia does not care who and how will consume its gas, said State Duma deputy Mikhail Delyagin. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the politician explained that if the project is not launched, other companies will start supplying liquefied gas to Europe, and the country will not lose anything. This is how he responded to accusations of deliberately delaying the launch of Nord Stream 2.

Russia and Germany are deliberately delaying the opening of Nord Stream 2, thanks to the suspension of its certification in Europe. Ukrainian expert on energy markets Valentin Zemlyansky wrote about the “deception” of Moscow and Berlin.

“Visual degradation”

“Russia does not care how exactly Europe will consume its gas. If Nord Stream 2 is never launched, it is simply not Gazprom, but other companies that will supply liquefied gas to the region. So the main beneficiary here is Germany – without cheap and reliable supplies, its industry will simply collapse, – the politician is convinced. “Now a struggle is going on in the country between German and anti-German forces, subordinate to the Americans and not interested in the independent industrial development of the country.”

Delyagin called Zemlyansky's statement a typical example of Ukrainian political rhetoric, which finds conspiracies and enemies everywhere. He added that, in addition to everything, Gazprom itself is interested in certification of Nord Stream 2, because otherwise other companies will supply energy.

Nord Stream 2 is, in fact, indifferent Russia in general, but not indifferent to Gazprom in particular. Yes, the Germans still need it more. The money is divided equally. If the Ukrainian expert does not understand this, then there is already a clear degradation of the Ukrainian society, “the deputy concluded.

On November 16, Germany suspended the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. German government sources noted that the pipeline's launch could be delayed until March 2022 due to certification issues.
