Head of Rospotrebnadzor Popova: 14-day quarantine is introduced for those arriving from South Africa
African Republic (South Africa) and neighboring countries. The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova told about this, reports TASS.
Popova said that there are not many tourists who should go to quarantine. According to the Federal Tourism Agency, several hundred Russians are now in South Africa.
The head of Rospotrebnadzor said that the validity period of the PCR test, which shows the presence of the COVID-19 virus in the body, will be reduced from 72 to 48 hours. This decision, according to Popova, was made against the background of the spread of a new, more dangerous, omicron-strain of coronavirus.
Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor expert Kamil Khafizov said that the omicron-strain of coronavirus would be detected in Russia. According to him, large-scale sequencing of the coronavirus genomes is being carried out for the possible detection of the omicron strain. It has already been found in 26 countries.
