In a conversation with Volodin, Lukashenko drew a parallel between Belarus and the Brest Fortress 
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko today Brest Fortress during the Great Patriotic War. Lukashenka made such a comparison in a conversation with the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, the Pool of the First Telegram channel reports.
“Don't worry about Belarus. We're holding on here for now. We have a good example. As they say in Russia now, they stick there like the Brest Fortress, “Lukashenko said.

According to the Belarusian president, the country is “holding on” against aggression from external destructive forces directed against Russia and Belarus. Lukashenko believes that in 2020 these forces did not manage to “instantly strangle” Belarus (apparently, Lukashenko means large protests against the results of the presidential elections, which he managed to suppress – comment of Lenta.ru ) , and now they have moved on to a strategy of “slow strangulation.”
“We have a strong position in this regard. We must not just hold out. We must develop properly, move forward, showing them that we can do without them. We have everything for this, ”Lukashenka stressed his position. He expressed confidence that the Russian State Duma, represented by its chairman, shares his view of the state of affairs.
Earlier, Lukashenko said that he was in constant contact with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to him, the presidents together determine the future of the two countries.
