“The decision to close is difficult to make, given how negatively it can affect the tourism industry in the light of confirmed bookings from Russian companies through January 2022,” the agency's source said, noting that there are no prerequisites for the closure of Egypt at the moment.
According to the specialist, not a single case of infection with the new omicron strain COVID-19 has been detected in the republic. “Egypt is implementing preventive and preventive measures with great precision at the airports of the resort areas of Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm el-Sheikh,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism of the republic added that they are closely monitoring the implementation of preventive measures at all tourist sites.
Earlier in November, Dmitry Gorin, vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, said that at the moment there are no recommendations or restrictions on travel to Egypt for tourists. The expert expressed doubt that the country could be closed to Russians due to the spread of the omicron strain of the coronavirus.
