When the tourist was sitting on the edge of the boat, a three-meter crocodile attacked her. The reptile bit the girl's leg. Friend Osborne-Smith dived under the water and hit the reptile, then the crocodile unclenched his teeth and released the victim. Osborne-Smith suffered serious injuries. She was taken by helicopter to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery on her.
The father of the Englishwoman, 60-year-old Brent Osborne-Smith, said that his daughter is now in serious condition. “She is in Zambia and we are trying to get her home to receive the necessary medical attention. But, obviously, after being bitten by a crocodile there is a high risk of infection, and her leg is badly injured, “he said.
The man stressed that the doctors did everything possible to stabilize the girl's condition, but the situation remains difficult. “Another problem is that Zambia remains on the list of dangerous countries from the point of view of COVID-19, so there were some difficulties with transportation,” said the Englishman.
