Zakharova drew attention to the fact that the current negotiation process already has a format including the interaction of Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk with the mediation of Russia and the OSCE, as well as the “Normandy format”. The representative of the Foreign Ministry suggested that the Turkish side better contribute to convincing the Ukrainian authorities to abandon aggressive rhetoric and fulfill their obligations within the framework of the existing formats.
Earlier, Erdogan said that Turkey is ready to mediate relations between Russia and Ukraine on the settlement potential conflict in the region. The head of state noted the importance of this fact for Turkey because of concern for the fate of the “Crimean Turks” – the Crimean Tatar people.
