Turkey appreciates the opportunity to help Ukraine with sanctions against Russia

Turkish Foreign Minister said that sanctions against Russia will not help Ukraine solve problems Ukraine to solve its problems. This should be done in a different way, said the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Mevlut Cavusoglu. He is quoted by TASS.

Such measures will not help Kiev, he stressed, probably referring to the alleged escalation of the conflict in Donbass. Assessing the possibility of resolving difficulties through containment, the diplomat added: this is a more acceptable option.

“If instead of sanctions we, for example, choose containment, then it must be purposeful. But we, as Turkey, believe in the right balance between containment and dialogue. So only by imposing sanctions it will not be possible to help Ukraine or another country, “he concluded.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki noted that the United States is always ready to impose sanctions against Russia due to the situation near the border with Ukraine. At the same time, she stressed that such decisions will be discussed with partners from the European Union.

Such statements are related to information about the pulling of Russian troops to the border with Ukraine, as reported by a number of Western and Ukrainian media. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov said that Russia is preparing to attack Ukraine.

Moscow, in turn, denies all charges. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov noted the absolute groundlessness of allegations of aggressive behavior or intentions of the Russian side.
