The United States agreed to consider sanctions against Nord Stream 2

The Hill: US Democrats will consider an amendment with sanctions against Nord Stream 2 to the draft of the country's defense budget for the current financial year, which involves the introduction of sanctions for participation in the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This is reported by TASS with reference to The Hill.

According to the newspaper, the Senate leadership is working to reach an agreement on the adoption of the draft defense budget. The leadership of the factions of both parties in the Senate is still figuring out whether any of the legislators will oppose the proposal and decide to block it.

On December 1, legislators will vote in favor of amendments to the draft budget. This package included a number of Republican proposals, including restrictions against companies for participating in the certification of the gas pipeline.

Earlier it became known that the Republicans blocked the further passage of the country's defense budget for the next fiscal year in the US Senate. The draft defense budget in the amount of approximately $ 770 billion includes sanctions against Russia.

The construction of the gas pipeline was completed on September 10. According to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, on September 6 the Nord Stream 2 construction operator Nord Stream 2 AG informed about the welding of the last pipe in the Baltic Sea.
