Dmitry Rak, manager of sea freight development at DHL Global Forwarding, warned that the delay in cargo from Southeast Asia in October and November was dictated by two factors. This is the increased demand of Russian importers for this route due to the ratio of price and transit time, as well as the accumulation of goods in the Korean port of Busan. Problems in the latter were caused by typhoons “Omais” and “Chantu”.
“Most of the shipping lines have suspended the booking of containers and their own calls at the ports of the Far East,” he added. Some terminals in the ports of Vladivostok and Vostochny stopped accepting containers, which caused general delays of one to two months.
Alexander Tarasenkov, General Director of FMG Transport Service, believes that similar congestions are not expected in other Russian cities. “Transit delivery times by sea in the direction of” China – Europe “and” China – Russia “have grown by one and a half times. But I do not expect congestion in St. Petersburg or Novorossiysk, even if the traffic from the Far East goes to them, “he added.
According to experts, the situation should return to normal in December.
