A new website for the not yet launched Yandex Bank has appeared on the network. The fake site copies the trademark of a real bank, Kommersant writes.
The discovered resource “has nothing to do with Yandex and can mislead users,” the company warned the Russians. A fake domain (in which the words from the original are simply rearranged) was registered by a private person on September 29th.
If the fraudsters manage to launch the site before the bank, posting more information on it, then from the point of view of search results, by default, it will be considered more relevant, that is, it will become the main one, says Yevgeniy Tsarev, managing director of RTM Group. He also admits that the site is in “sleep mode”, and its creators are waiting for the launch of the original resource in order to copy all the information.
Basically, attackers want to steal personal data in this way in order to resell it on the black market. the expert explains. A copy of the site was created in advance in order to inspire more confidence in the moment when this copy is required for an attack, said Denis Lipov, head of the Deloitte CIS cyber risk management practice.
Earlier, the Russians were warned about the fake site Alfa Bank. The copy of the site is not working yet, but it may pose a threat to users.
