Norway has reiterated its proposal to ISU to raise the figure skating age limit 
The Norwegian Ice Skating Association has again proposed to raise the figure skating age limit. This is reported by Match TV.
“Adults will be available from the age of 17 for women and men in all ISU disciplines, including figure skating, and from the age of 16 – for dance duets and sports couples,” – explained to Match TV the initiative in the leadership of the association. The issue will be considered at the congress of the International Skating Union (ISU) in 2022.
If the initiative is approved, the new rules will come into force in the 2023/2024 season. At the same time, junior skaters who have already participated in the European Championships, the Four Continents Championships or the World Championships in 2023 will be admitted to adult competitions in the 2023/24 season.
The Norwegian Skating Association has already proposed increasing the age limit in figure skating in 2019. The issue was supposed to be considered at the ISU congress in 2020. The discussion was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the federation had to submit a proposal again under the regulations.
According to the current rules, skaters can take part in adult competitions from the age of 15.
