Scientists have discovered sunken in the Java sea the ship, the label “Made in China” that allowed the researchers to conclude that the ship sank a century earlier than previously thought.

According to Live Science, talking about the ship found a private company in the Java sea in the 90-ies. After radiocarbon analysis of resin and tusks that were on the ship, dated them to the period 889-1261.

Comparing the obtained data with the existing information about the vessel, the scientists decided that the ship sank approximately in the XIII century.

However, the new discovery may push back the date of the crash roughly a century.

According to the TV channel “Zvezda”, two ceramic vessels from the ship there is an inscription, saying that the product was created in China, in the Prefecture of Czernin Fu (Fujian province).

The character “Fu” put everything in its place. It is the name of the province received in 1162 during the song dynasty. In 1278, this territory was conquered by the troops of the Mongol yuan dynasty, which was renamed the Prefecture of Czernin Lou.”This suggests that pottery was made between 1162 and 1278. The earliest date that the ship could sail — 1162 this year. So, the shipwreck could have happened about a hundred years earlier than was believed until now”, explained one of the scientists from the Field Museum of natural history in Chicago.
