Pushkov commented on the decision of Poroshenko to change the status of Crimea
MOSCOW, 29 Jun — RIA Novosti. Russian Senator Alexey Pushkov considers the decision of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko change the status of Crimea in the Constitution proper. He said this on Twitter.
“Poroshenko instructed to change the status of Crimea in the Constitution of Ukraine. True, it is better not to mention as irretrievably lost territory,” he wrote.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Chizhmar reported that Poroshenko instructed the Constitutional Commission to prepare a draft to change the status of the Peninsula as the “Republic of Crimea cannot already exist as part of a unitary country.”
In the Kremlin, commenting on the initiative, stressed that it did not perceive statements by foreign leaders regarding the status of the Russian regions.
In Kiev have repeatedly said that Crimea will soon return to the Ukraine. So, Poroshenko claimed that the Peninsula will be “proudly flying Ukrainian flags”.
Again Crimea became a Russian region in March 2014 according to the results of a referendum held after a coup in Ukraine. For reunification with Russia voted 96,77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol took part in the vote. According to President Vladimir Putin, the issue of ownership of the Peninsula “closed permanently”.
