McFaul announced the resignation Kislyak as head of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in the USA

Moscow. June 25. INTERFAX.RU — Former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul said that the Russian Ambassador in Washington Sergey Kislyak is preparing to leave his post.

“Ambassador Kislyak is preparing to leave the Russian Embassy in the US, and wish him all the best. When I was in the civil service, to work with him was a pleasure, although we have differing views,” he wrote in his Twitter.

As Ambassador Kislyak gets ready to leave @RusEmbUSA, I wish him well. While in the USG, I enjoyed working with him, even when we disagreed.

“Interfax” has no official comments of the Russian side on this issue.

The work of Sergei Kislyak as Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the United States are actively discussing the American media and officials, pointing to the diplomat contacts with representatives of the team of the current President of Donald trump during the election campaign of 2016.

These contacts are mentioned among the alleged evidence of the alleged attempts by Moscow to influence elections in the United States.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin in interview to the American journalist Megan Kelly indicated that he did not know, with whom I meet ambassadors of Russia, as it is their daily work. He noted that Kislyak had told the foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, if in the course of this work occurred “something out of the ordinary”, and he in turn reported to the President. However, Putin noted that such communications were not.
