Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Udmurtia arrested on charges of abuse of power

Moscow. June 23. INTERFAX.RU — the Court in Izhevsk on Friday chose a measure of restraint in form of detention for acting Deputy Chairman of the government of Udmurt Republic Rafis Kasimov, who was detained on suspicion of abuse of office.

“Concerning it elected a measure of restraint in form of detention for a period of two months”, — said the Agency “Interfax” in United a press-service of the judicial community of the Republic.

Kasimov was arrested yesterday morning. As previously reported to the Agency in a press-service UFSB across Udmurtiya, concerning it criminal case about excess of powers of office with causing of heavy consequences. Informed source reported to Agency that the same day in the office of the acting Vice-Premier in the government of Udmurtia and the Ministry of forestry were operational activities. According to him, the detention Kasimova related to illegal logging in natural protected areas of the region. According to the source, the damage from the illegal activities of officials could be more than 700 million rubles.

Kasimov took over as Vice-Premier of the government of the Udmurt Republic, in charge of industry, including oil and defense industry, utilities, transport and road industry and forestry, in 2016. Prior to that, from 2006, he was Minister of forestry of the Republic.
