The proposal to replace the European court of human rights (ECHR) in a similar structure on the basis of the BRICS does not yet have any documentary base. This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Andrei Klimov, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday, June 21.
He commented on the initiative, which previously acted as the Chairman of the Commission of Public chamber (OP) on development of public diplomacy, cultural cooperation and preservation of traditional values Elena sutormina.
Klimov said that BRICS, in contrast to the Council of Europe is not an organization, but a format of cooperation of its member countries. Participating countries of the BRICS “not ready to share their sovereignty and carry out the decisions of any supranational court,” the Senator said.
