MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. The Bureau of the Yabloko party has nominated the mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman as a candidate in the elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region, the correspondent of TASS.
The nomination Roizman actively supported the founder of the party and the head of its Federal political Committee Grigory Yavlinsky. “Courage, political experience, political position, human quality – all this allows us to maintain Yevgeny Roizman,” said he.
According to Yavlinsky, the mayor of Yekaterinburg there is a chance to overcome the “municipal filter” to register as a candidate for Governor. “Yevgeny Roizman will be a big problem with the “municipal filter”… In my opinion, he has sufficient personal popularity that he could collect the necessary number of votes [municipal elections], because it can only make a man personally popular,” says Yavlinsky.
He Roizman said that he hoped to win in the gubernatorial election. “In this election, I is not going to light up, to warm up. I go to win it,” he said, acknowledging, however, that his “chances of passing the “municipal filter” has dropped significantly”.
During the meeting of the Bureau Roizman rejected accusations of homophobia. “Everything about homosexuals: I with them never crossed paths, I did not hurt, they live for themselves and live, – he told, answering questions of members of the Bureau. Roizman also noted that he does not consider their calls to introduce a visa regime with a number of countries of xenophobia. “I think the country in order to cut off the flow of heroin that comes at the expense of the visa waiver obliged to take some measures”, – said the mayor of Yekaterinburg.
Elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk region
On June 17, the regional branch of the party “Yabloko” could not select the candidate on elections of the Governor of Sverdlovsk area from-for disagreement with the candidacy of the mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman. The head of regional branch of party Yury Pereverzev and 10 delegates announced the withdrawal from the party and left the conference. Earlier, the Bureau of the “Yabloko” has suspended powers of the management of the regional office and agreed to conduct re-registration of its members, and powers to nominate a candidate for Governor transferred to the office of the party.
Earlier Sverdlovsk electoral Committee has accepted documents from the six candidates for the post of head of Sverdlovsk region: acting Governor of the region Yevgeny Kuyvashev (United Russia), Deputy of the city Duma of Ekaterinburg Dmitry Sergin (“the Russian party of pensioners for social justice”), the Deputy of Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk region Dmitry Ionin (“Fair Russia”), member of the Board “Plus Bank” Alexey Parfenov (CPRF), Igor Toroshin (LDPR) and Deputy of the city Duma of Ekaterinburg Konstantin Kiselev (“Green”).
