Herd of domestic reindeer on the Taimyr Peninsula for the first time will be monitored through the GLONASS system, which will allow you to detect animals in the tundra and provide assistance to herders. On Monday TASS reported the press service of the government of Krasnoyarsk Krai.
“One of the largest deer farms in the Taimyr Peninsula, with more than 3.2 thousand deer, and this year will begin using collars with transmitters GLONASS to control animals. There are many projects where the collars they put on wild deer to monitor the migratory routes, but with homemade it will be the first time” — said the Agency.
As told TASS the representative of the farm herder Gregory Toga, collars with transmitters will be put on leaders in stud.
“Enemies of the deer — wolves. Sometimes they scare the deer, and the animals run away into the tundra. You need a lot of effort to find a herd. Using GLONASS to find animals it will be much easier,” — said Toga.
He noted that the herders will gain confidence that if necessary, such as calling ambulance, they quickly find in the tundra and help.
