Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called clear and understandable criticism of Germany and Austria in the United States over plans to introduce a new package of restrictions against Moscow. His words on Friday, June 16, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
“The fact that many farmers and Industrialists in Germany have to bear the direct losses in connection with these sanctions,” said Sands, answering the question of whether to regard it as a positive signal.
Earlier, the Kremlin warned Washington against sanctions next peak.
June 15, foreign Minister of Germany Sigmar Gabriel and the Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern condemned the draft of new U.S. sanctions against the Russian fuel and energy complex. In a joint statement, foreign Ministers of the two countries stressed that the restrictions will create a danger for the European companies involved in the energy supply of the continent.
Later they were joined by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, noting that economic interests and Washington’s sanctions “do not mix”. The French foreign Ministry, in turn, said that Washington should coordinate their policies in the field of anti-Russian sanctions with EU member States and countries outside the G7.
The U.S. Senate approved a bill to expand sanctions against Moscow the day before. In the event of approval, American companies and individuals will not be allowed to lend to Russian banks for longer than 14 days. In addition, the document proposes to limit the terms of financing of Russian oil and gas companies.
