The number of people infected with HIV in Orenburg region was almost twice the average for the Russian Federation
Moscow. June 14. INTERFAX.RU — Management of Rospotrebnadzora across the Orenburg region has registered growth of HIV infection in 2016 in all administrative territories of the region, reported “Interfax” in a press-management service.
“In 2016 in the region for the first time revealed 2 thousand 346 HIV-infected patients with a definitive diagnosis, which is 6% higher than a year earlier. Thus the regional incidence of 1.95 times higher than the national average and 1.74 times the indicators in the Volga Federal district”, — said the representative of management.
The highest rates were recorded in the district of AI, (414 infected on 100 thousand population), the cities of Novotroitsk (of 272.8 per 100 thousand population) and Orsk (229,3 per 100 thousand population).
Overall, the total number of registered cases of HIV infection (according to the personalized accounting) at the beginning of this year has reached 30 thousand 350 cases.
According to the interlocutor of the Agency, the main route of HIV infection remains sexual, at the same time decreases the number of people becoming infected through intravenous drug abuse. Also more than 15 years in the region has not registered cases of HIV infection associated with the provision of medical care.
