NEW YORK, June 13. /TASS/. The agreement not to expand NATO to the East had to record it on paper. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with the American Director Oliver stone in the movie “Interview with Putin” (The Moscow Interviews). The premiere of this four-part documentary on the cable channel Showtime.
“When the question of German unification and the subsequent withdrawal of Soviet troops from Eastern Europe, then officials in the United States, and NATO Secretary General said that in one of the Soviet Union can be sure that Eastern border of NATO would not be pushed further than the Eastern border of the German Democratic Republic,” – said the Russian leader.
