The members of both houses of the legislative Assembly of the U.S. state of new York from 13 to 21 September at the invitation of the Chairman of the Parliament of Tatarstan will pay a working visit to Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Kazan, the head of staff of a member of the Assembly of the state of new York Anton Konev.
“In the tense relations at the Federal level, we believe that relations at the regional levels only need to promote. Specifically, in this embodiment, the senators and assemblymen, members of both houses of the legislative Assembly of the state of new York go to St. Petersburg, in Moscow and in the Republic of Tatarstan. At the invitation of the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Tatarstan Farida Mukhametshin”, — he told reporters on the sidelines of the conference of organizations of Russian compatriots at the Russian centre of science and culture in Washington.
“Mr. Mukhametshin we had in 2010, in 2011 also was a delegation, but, unfortunately, from 2011 to current year there were no sequels contacts. And this is the first time since 2011, when we re-start this relationship at the regional level. I hope there will be a meeting in the government of the Republic of Tatarstan and government of Moscow and the government of St. Petersburg”, — he added.
According to him, the possible “meetings with business, agreements on educational exchanges, in respect to business exchanges, international exchanges, cultural exchanges.”
Konev noted that the delegation will be presented “both Republicans and Democrats, and the Chairpersons of the committees on energy of both houses, even the representative of the independent Democrats, only 26 people.”
He is confident that an agreement will be signed with Tatarstan to strengthen ties. “In Moscow and St. Petersburg still draft signing, but that is also, probably, the results documents will be signed”, — he added.
Konev hoped that with this visit the practice of collaboration will be ongoing — there will be more regions and the response of Russian lawmakers.
He believes that Moscow and new York can cooperate in various matters, for example, in the field of transport and the fight against terrorism.
“No pressure (from the Federal authorities) we do not. At the Federal level some Federal politicians are looking for enemies. Enemies is full and local. The policy of the state is not looking for enemies,” he concluded.
