Innocent American spent 17 years in prison for double
MOSCOW, 11 Jun — RIA Novosti. The U.S. government has released resident of Kansas city, who served 17 years for a crime he did not commit, reports RT.
In 1999, Richard Jones was accused of robbery with aggravating circumstances and sentenced to 19 years in prison. The prosecution in this case was based solely on eyewitness testimony.
The prisoner himself pleaded not guilty and appealed for help to human rights defenders. Those found near the crime scene was a Ricky, looks very similar to Jones.
“When I saw a photo of my double, it all became clear,” said Jones.

In the new hearings witnesses who looked at photos of both men, said that they no longer believe in the guilt of Jones. In connection with the new testimony, the judge ruled that the verdict of the man unreasonable, and on Thursday its released.
