The first candidate of theology appeared in Russia
MOSCOW, 1 Jul — RIA Novosti. The first Russian dissertation on the theology defended at Moscow, the author — Archpriest Paul Hondzinsky became the country’s first candidate of theology, the correspondent of RIA Novosti.
Theology recognized as an academic discipline by the Higher attestation Commission (HAC) in 2015. In 2016, made possible the protection of works on the subject, when was the dissertation and expert advice. At the same time, representatives of the Muslim community noted that councils consider the work of Orthodox theology. For this reason, now created similar councils on Islamic theology.
For awarding the degree to the dissertation, defending the work of the “Resolution of problems of the Russian theology of the eighteenth century in the synthesis of St. Philaret, Metropolitan of Moscow” was voted 21 of the 22 present members of the joint dissertation Council on theology. Only the academic Council consists of 23 scientists chaired by the Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev).
Protection was held in the Church post-graduate and doctoral studies name of saints Cyril and Methodius (CMI). The hall was attended by about 70 people — representatives of the Church, scientists and journalists.
The dissertation received four positive and five negative feedback. Critics of the work did not like the method used in the study, which, they argue, “is based on lachnosterna the experience of faith and the life of the theologian.”
Initially it was assumed that Hondzinsky will be a PhD in related disciplines of history and philosophy.
