On 28 may, the media reported that trump has decided to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement. A day earlier, the head of state wrote in his Twitter that will make a final decision next week.
The US withdrawal from the climate agreement, committing to reduce or stabilize greenhouse gas emissions, was one of the campaign promises trump. 10 Nov 2016, he stated that “climate change is not the most urgent issue of national security. This is a triumph of extremism over reason, and Congress needs to stop this. We reject the program and the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris agreement, which represent only the personal obligations of those who signed them”.
According to the 45th President of the United States, this document is not beneficial to America as a world leader in emissions — China — does not fulfil the envisaged obligations.
On 24 February, the media reported that trump rejected the idea to bring the country out of the Paris climate agreement, which has been repeatedly voiced during the election campaign. This decision was influenced by his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner.
On March 28, trump signed a decree on the abolition adopted by its predecessor, Barack Obama measures to combat climate change. Trump expressed the opinion that Obama’s decision is detrimental to US energy and those who work in this field. Before signing he declared the beginning “a new era of American energy.”
