The Novosibirsk authorities have cancelled a sharp rise in utility tariffs after protests

Vladimir Gorodetsky

The Governor of the Novosibirsk region Vladimir Gorodetsky took the decision to cancel the decision about increase of tariffs by 15-20 per cent after the region held a series of rallies against the significant growth of public services. Reports about it “Taiga.info” on Wednesday, April 19.

According to Gorodetsky, the tariffs will increase by only 4 percent.

“The growth in tariffs was found to be objective. But at the same time increased contributions for the repair, and in February, the Federal government adopted the decision on recalculation on ONE (General house-needs — approx. “Of the tape.ru”). In January, there was a 1/12 allocation. This, too, lay stress on the residents,” — said the head of the region.

However, he noted that the depreciation of utilities in Novosibirsk exceeds 70 percent.

State Duma Deputy from the region Vera Gansa in an interview with National news service (NSN) has pointed out that in the current situation Gorodetsky will have to quickly look for funds for the maintenance of the heating system in good condition. “So the money should be drawn either in the budget or to think about participating in some programs”, — said Gansa.

In response to the government’s decision to increase prices for housing and communal services of Novosibirsk held seven rallies, the biggest of which gathered three thousand people. While the protest was not political.

In October 2016 Gorodetsky has signed the order which has obliged the administration to inform the head and the region government on critical materials published in the media. In addition, he recommended that his subordinates within two business days to verify the facts stated in the publications, and take action.
