The government supported the idea of postponing the presidential elections on March 18

Government Commission on legislative activities endorsed the amendments to the electoral law made by the members of the Federation Council Andrey Clisham and Anatoly Shirokov, and involving the holding of presidential elections on March 18, write “sheets”.

Under current law, presidential elections are appointed no earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before election day. The will must be held on the second Sunday of March. However, as noted by parliamentarians, the calendar of the campaign might impact on March 8. Then elections are carried a week earlier.

The new amendments propose to change the system and to migrate from the previous election, and the next Sunday of the month.
