Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella in Moscow. This was reported on the Kremlin website on Tuesday, April 11.
“We are experiencing not the best times, but your visit and puts us in a positive way. I really hope that all the difficulties and misunderstanding be gradually eliminated and we will go back to normal positive cooperation,” Putin said.
According to the Russian leader, the trade turnover between the two countries in recent years has decreased in 2,5 times.
In turn, the Italian President noted that economic cooperation, despite difficulties, managed to keep. “And we very much hope that in the very near future we will be able to go to the previous level and move to sustainable growth, as the friendship between Italy and Russia has very strong”, — he stressed.
Mattarella arrived in Moscow on an official visit on April 10. According to RIA Novosti, he will stay in the Russian capital until April 13. During this time, the Italian President plans to meet with Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill.
