After the attempted coups of Turkey in the summer of 2016 was delayed more than 113 thousand people. This was announced by the interior Minister of the country Suleyman Soylu, reports Anadolu news Agency. According to him, 47.1 thousand suspected FETO — organization based opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah gülen — were arrested.
“Among the detainees 10.7 thousand policemen, 7.6 thousand soldiers, generals, 168, 2.5 thousand judges and prosecutors, 208 officials and 26.1 thousand civilians,” said Soylu. He added that out of the total number of detainees more than 65 thousand people were released, of which 41.5 thousand are under the supervision of law enforcement officers.
February 28 Turkey began the trial of the suspects in the coup attempt. There appeared before the court 330 people, who are accused of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, of murder and membership in a terrorist organization. Each of them faces up to three life sentences.
