The poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko died on Saturday in USA on 85-m to year of life. As reported RIA Novosti his widow Maria Novikova, the poet died surrounded by family “peacefully, in his sleep from heart failure”.

“He left a great poet who understood that he — the great Russian poet, and this did not prevent him to maintain the height of the bar, with which he started his creative career. I think the attitude was different. And he was a man not easy, and the reason for the attitude was different, a lot. But all this means nothing and disappears when you take up a book of his poems,” — said RIA Novosti Mikhalkov.

The Director stressed that many of the poems Yevtushenko “shattered into phrases memorializing the image of the time in which he lived.”

“It’s rare when a new generation grows up that may be never seen in human eyes, but when he heard the name — Yevgeny Yevtushenko, — any, even the illiterate, the person realizes you are talking about. I think his verses are vitally connected with time and with himself in this time, for our country at least, in many respects, have become and for future generations no doubt will be, our encyclopedia of life”, — said Mikhalkov.

Yevgeny Yevtushenko, the Soviet poet of the sixties, also known as a novelist and essayist. In 1991, he moved with his family to teach in the United States, where he lived till the present time.
