Valentina Matvienko
Russia’s calls to unite against terrorists not find adequate response in the world, said the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Her words given in the press release received by the editors”.ru” on Tuesday, March 28.
“While this situation does not change, ISIL ( same as ISIS, not a terrorist group — approx. “Of the tape.ru”) and other similar organizations will continue their crimes,” she said at the parliamentary conference on combating international terrorism held in St. Petersburg.
According to Matvienko, one of the reasons for the spread of the terrorist threat was the lack of a unified approach to combat it, as well as the desire of some States to use this threat to their advantage. “Countries that offer terrorists shelter, framework, funding and infrastructure, should not enjoy the support of the civilized world, can’t be respected members of the international community,” she said.
“The complete and final victory over terrorism is impossible without the creation of a broad international coalition against terrorism”, — concluded the Chairman of the upper house of the Russian Parliament.
The President of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly, Christine Muttonen agreed that the fight against terrorism requires multilateral cooperation, including between the parliaments of the different countries.
The day before, 27 March, Christine Muttonen met the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. He urged the OSCE to assess the situation with a “daughter” of Russian banks in Ukraine.
