As reported by the newspaper La Derniere Heure, the police found the weapon in the car of an unknown man, presumably a native of North Africa.

The car was stopped by a military patrol. No one was hurt.
In the words of mayor Bart de Bever, Antwerp police prevented a possible terrorist attack, said the Agency Belga.
