Completed the first 200 years of the restoration of the Holy Sepulchre

Moscow. March 21. INTERFAX.RU — restoration of the chapel (the Shrine) on the site of the burial of Christ in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem is completed. As expected, on Wednesday in the presence of representatives of Christian denominations will be opening the Edicule, said on Tuesday the website of the British newspaper the Catholic Herald.

Restoration work at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre was conducted under the guidance of Professor of the Athens national Polytechnic University Antonia Moropoulou in the spring of 2016. The project was implemented by donations and cost several million dollars.

The body of Christ after the descent from the cross was laid on a stone funerary couch. The current room and the previous cave, destroyed in 1009, called the Holy Sepulchre. Over the burial place of Jesus in 1810, after a devastating fire, was built Edicule, which since then never been restored.
