Russian Academy of Sciences will hold a presidential election in the fall
MOSCOW, 20 Mar — RIA Novosti. General meeting of Russian Academy of Sciences, its highest governing body, voted to postpone the election of the President of the RAS in the fall, they should go no later than the end of November.
Members also voted to petition the government of the Russian Federation about prolongation of powers of the acting head of the Academy of Sciences Vladimir Fortov, former failed candidate for the current elections, as well as of the RAS Presidium and Vice-presidents of the Academy of Sciences.

RAS will propose changes to its Charter, and the future system of elections of its head will be more transparent and “will allow for more efficient selection of candidates,” said Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.
