Russia gave Ukraine 12 prisoners from the Crimea

Federal service of execution of punishments (FSIN) of Russia gave Ukraine 12 citizens who served sentence in the Crimea at the time of its accession to Russia. This is stated in the message published on the website of the Federal penitentiary service.

The Ministry clarified that the transfer took place at the checkpoint “nehoteevka — goptovka” in Belgorod region. In the process, was attended by Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova.

Transfer 12 Ukrainian citizens were agreed in February. Then, the Deputy Minister of justice of Ukraine Sergei Petukhov said that we are not talking about political prisoners, and the people convicted by the Ukrainian courts. In early March, the Commissioner for human rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova held an informal meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Valeria Lutkovska, during which they discussed the movements of prisoners from the Crimea.
