Moscow and Berlin agreed on the date of the visit Merkel
Date of visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Moscow agreed. This was reported to journalists by the Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, reports TASS on Wednesday, March 15.
He declined to name a specific date, stressing that Moscow and Berlin will announce it later at the same time.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss with Merkel the issue of Ukraine, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
March 9, Peskov said that the visit of the German Chancellor to Russia does not mean the resumption of the Russian-German interstate consultations.
Earlier in the day Putin during the meeting with the foreign Minister of Germany Sigmar Gabriel said that Moscow is waiting for a visit of Merkel and of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The Russian leader stressed that the country needs to follow the path of normalization of relations.
The last telephone conversation between Putin and Merkel took place on 7 February. The two leaders called for the immediate restoration of the cease-fire in Ukraine.
