Norway was extradited to the United States of a Russian citizen accused of hacking
WASHINGTON, Mar 14 — RIA Novosti. The citizen of the Russian Federation mark Vartanian extradited from Norway to the US on charges of cybercrime, according to the U.S. justice Department.
The Agency clarifies that Vartanyan, known online under the nickname Kolypto, was extradited in December 2016, and on Tuesday appeared before the court.
He is now charged with developing malicious programs “Citadel”, using which the cyber criminals have caused “financial loss to individuals and companies around the world.”
“The arrest Vartanian eliminates prominent player who participated in the development, improvement, support, and distribution of malicious programs from the Arsenal of the criminal underground, and thereby reduces the possibility of cybercriminal group”, — stated in the release.
